Project Proposal
Thin clients are widely viewed as cheap and affordable way to bring computing to the masses in developing countries. This project will aim to test the suitability of OSW as a server in a LTSP environment.
This will entail :
1) Testing the present LTSP stack on PPC64 (initially on Gentoo PPC64)
2) Porting Debian/Ubuntu to PPC64 (along with the other people who proposed this)
3) Building Edubuntu packages for PPC64
4) Performance Testing of LTSP on Edubuntu running on OSW, especially with respect to network traffic and CPU load, varying with the number of users logged on simultaneously
