Project Proposal
The OSW has all capabilities to be an excellent database server.
For archive best database performance the max amount of addressable memory, optimal memory bus throughput and high CPU clockrates are key values. All these attributes are combined in the OSW.
To facilitate the marketing of the OSW as entry/medium MySQL database server, I will perform various generally accepted database benchmarks to produce sales promoting results.
These results will compare the OSW and its competitors in that market segment to clearly highlight the qualities of the OSW.
To ensure that the benchmark results are reflecting the full potential of the OSW, the benchmarks will be carefully tuned for the PPC64 platform and if needed the benchmarks and the MySQL server will be profiled to produce performance enhancing database patches for the PPC64 platform.
This project will continue and enhance the benchmark and server profiling work started for the ODW.
