TetraPower 970MP Project
SUSE Linux testing and package compiling machine

in category Operating Systems
proposed by Peter Czanik on 16th February 2006

Project Proposal
From version 10.0 SUSE Linux is available for the PowerPC platform again. Right now installation tools are designed to work on IBM servers. I started to test SUSE Linux and report bugs on ODW as soon as it was available, so with version 10.1 ODW is supported much better now.

SUSE Linux supports PPC64 also. I would test SUSE Linux and SLES on OSW to make sure, that it\'s well supported by the next release, and with some modifications, custom kernel, probably with the current release also.

This machine would also help me to compile the 64 bit version of some external software packages, which are not included in the \'official\' distribution.
