Project Summary
Optimizing MySQL for PowerPC.
Scope of the project is:
- measuring server performance on PPC using DB-benchmarks.
Comparing this with results of other architectures to identify areas to be improved.
- profiling MySQL to find bootlenecks on PowerPC architecture.
- rewriting time critical or often used routines to be optimized for PPC.
Those optimizations can be written in ASM and C.
- Evaluating possibility and benefits of vectorizing (ALTIVEC) certain functions.
Goal of the project is:
- officially include PPC improvement into the MySQL server code to generally improve performance on this architecture.
