i.MX515 Project
Port Intel's Moblin 2 platform to i.MX515

in category Operating Systems
proposed by Konstantinos Margaritis on 1st February 2009 (accepted on 1st June 2009)

Project Summary
For those who haven't checked the news recently, Moblin 2 is Intel's recent attempt at providing a light distro with ultra-fast boot Itimes targetted at netbooks and mobile devices (Atom-based).
Since it's linux, and opensource, I propose to start the porting effort to the ARM CPU i.MX515. Though in theory porting is easy, in practice there are lots of problems, from driver issues, to endianness problems and 32/64-bit assumptions in the software.
Starting a full time effort, one might be able to have an basic ARM port in weeks, but most probably it will take a few months to have something worthy of using as a beta.
