Project Proposal

The idea : It is about setting up Genesi\'s Efika as a powerfull and smart multimedia player. Low size, Low Power, Low Temperature and High Reliability !
The idea is to build a very small & cheap multimedia player around the Efika board which would run something like a modified Linux Freevo distrib or MythTV with a dedicated multimedia software.
It would be a carriable Home Video System that you would plug easily on your Hi-Fi/TV and vidéo system : - Vidéo player - Audio player - Image viewer - Vidéo/Audio/Image/personal data storage - eBooks reading/displaying - Weather info - Games - Websurfing from your TV - Vidéo phoning from your TV (needs an extra webcam)
You could even imagine that it would be possible to connect it as a standard computer with a USB keyboard & mouse and a screen. It might also be possible to imagine to control all your home equipement from it...
Hardware : - EFIKA board with use of Genesi\'s Pegasos HAL/OF - Graphic card : to be defined. Will have a TV out... - DVD-drive : to be defined... - Hard disk : 2\"1/2.
Software : - Linux with Freevo or MythTV
Team : This project would be combined with : 1) The case design project of Robert Lee O\'Neill (\"Amber^Inc) 2) The LiveCD experience project of Marcel Unbehaun (\"Frostwork\").
