  Kawooom - atom strike ;-)
posted by Ulrich Beckers on 25th November 2008

Well, some years ago (IIRC 2005) I outlined a 5200B based device that was astonishing similar to the device class Asus introduced last year with the Eee netbook series (except processor and default OS).
Now Asus is going the AIO (All In One) route. Cheap iMac like devices. Stop: iMac like? No - It's rather like my Efika based Multimedia frame. Asus goal is to sell 5 Million AIO devices during the next two years as home multimedia devices and expects AIOs will take a 40% share in the overall desktop market within the next three years.Well, Seems I am right on track with my frame. And since I know the performance of Linux on the Atom (Eee 900A) and MorphOS on the 5200B (and on higher spec'ed devices) I am looking very forward to the availability of the 8610 based Efika. As multimedia media device that one together with MorphOS will have the power to blast any Atom based device away (aber sowas von!) .

Oops - Talking about Atom blasts: Generally I'd rather like to avoid any Atom blasts, but in case of that particular 'Atom' I don't care, but look quite forward. Kawooom!!!
