Project Proposal
I will port FreeBSD to the Pegasos 8641D. I have been working on porting FreeBSD to the Efika.
This will help FreeBSD by adding more non-Apple PowerPC platforms it supports.
First the loader will be ported. Past experience has shown this will normally not require any work.
Next the kernel will be worked on to get it into single user mode. This is where the system only supports the root user working with one display.
After the system is working in single user mode it will be worked on to get it into multi user mode. This is where many users can be on multiple terminals.
Finally the device drivers will be fixed to work. I will also help to improve the performance of the FreeBSD by using the vector processor.
