Project Proposal
Introduction
Pliant is a new generation programming language, very tiny at the basic level but extremely modular and extendable. Pliant programs are dynamically compiled, where computations may be performed at the compile time, as well as some more code could get compiled at the run time. Therefore, Pliant provides great scalability and flexibility, ranging from low-level system programming up to macro-language capabilities.
FullPliant is a complete operating system based on the Linux kernel, where all layers above the kernel proper have been replaced by appropriate Pliant code, including a broad spectrum of network services. In a sense, it makes FullPliant to be a \"Linux without Unix\", with unique built-in capabilities (e.g. metaprogramming).
Proposal
FullPliant network server implementation based on Pegasos 8641D, with a tailored Linux/PPC kernel and native dynamical compilation engine.
Rationale
The existing FullPliant versions are i386-centric, with attic Linux kernels and poor support for contemporary hardware. A \"port\" to the 8641D should result at least in substantial performance boost.
