Project Proposal
We plan to port the Crux-PPC Linux distribution to the 8641D. We\'d like to use extensive altivec optimizations and patches for glibc, we\'ve been experimenting with libfreevec and other optimized patches in the last year or two.
We believe Crux-PPC and 8641D would be an excellent server platform, for both general purpose and number-crunching applications.
CruxPPC is a lightweight, source based GNU/Linux distribution based on the original Crux for x86. Its primary focuses are \"keep it simple\" and the utilization of latest Linux features and recent tools and libraries.
