Project Proposal
Pluto is an all-in-one solution for your home that seamlessly combines media & entertainment, home automation, security, telecom and computing.
You can control your whole house with a mobile phone, a touch-screen tablet or a web-interface. Users interact with the Pluto system like an appliance - not a computer.
The basic system is composed of 4 parts: The Core, 1 or more Media Directors, Orbiter, Mobile Orbiters.
The core is the main control unit, this provides the smarts for the system, primary location of media storage, media recording, and media streaming is all done from the core.
The Media directors are the playback units (ie envision a set-top box plugged into your TV, this provides the mechanism to play back video source, audio source etc).
I have an approved project with EFIKA\'s to develop these into effecient Media Director Boxes. THe 8641D looks like an ideal place to develop the Core.
There is also an excellent opportuity to do some strong optimization for the PPC on this platform.
I have several years working with Pluto (and deploying it). Many years involvement in open source development. Have done hardware/software design consulting as a living for many years.
