Pegasos 8641D Project
Virtual Synth Laboratory

in category Applications & Software
proposed by Christopher L. Anderson on 2nd November 2006

Project Proposal
The general idea is to provide an virtual analog synthesizer design tool. The idea behind the tool is to enable the common musician the ability to specify and test (to a certain extent) an analog synthesizer in a virtual fashion. The basic principal behind this software will be that it would combine electronic circuit simulation (primarily analog low frequency oscillators, voltage-controlled amplifiers, and variable state filters) with realtime DSP output.

Given the complexity of such an endeavor, however , this project would focus on developing a circuit simulator tailored specifically for analog synthesizers. The program would be written in low-level gnu C and assembly language for Linux so that the dual processor architecture of the 8641D could be exploited.

In the future, the 4 Gbit ethernet could be used to extend this idea to an online arena. Then, this tool could be developed into a general virtual electronics design enivronment. If a company had such a sevice offering, the need for Pegsos8641D would greatly increase.

I am particularly interested, at minimum, in follwoing Grzegorz Kraszewski\'s development of optimized DSP algorithms targeted for the Pegasos 8641D platform.

I am an embedded systems designer working for Hand Held Products, Inc. in the USA. I design system tests and test software for our devices, and serve as a systems integrator of 802.11b radios. I hold a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech, with a concentration in embedded systems. I am really looking for a chance to offer up my own ideas to new players in the electronics market and this seems to be a good place to start.
